  • Fathom: The BeginningsFathom: The Beginnings : genesis

4 Sessions/ Where do we come from and how did it all start? It's a big question, and it's often a contentious one. Fathom: The Beginnings will dig into what the Bible says by exploring the opening chapters of Genesis. Fathom is a Bible study for teens that covers the Old and New Testaments in 18-4 session studies. The lessons are a blend of narrative and traditional theological approaches to understanding the bible story. Each lesson will focus on one passage that will launch into the larger context of God's story, and how that story is meant to be theirs. Fathom is suitable for groups with middle schoolers, high schoolers, and any combination of the two. Acknowledges the differences between older and younger youth and the way they learn. It provides activities specific to each age group, and gives leaders the option to let youth take ownership of their learning through teaching and leading alongside adults. Fathom creates space and tension for teens to wrestle with how to interpret and experience the bible.

  • Fear of the Other (DVD Study)Fear of the Other (DVD Study) : no fear in love

    Willimon, William H.

5 Sessions/ This study invites readers to consider the Gospel command to love (and not merely tolerate) those considered to be “Other” or outside mainstream Christian culture. Rooted in the faith of Israel and the Christian story and vision, Willimon – in an onscreen conversation with Delia Catalina Ramirez, brings a non-technical, Wesleyan perspective to bear on what may be the hardest thing for people of faith to do: keeping and loving the Other as Other. Emphasizing the biblical mandate to receive Others in their particularity and difference as gifts and mysteries bearing the grace of God, this study also offers a strong critique of the privileged who all too often rush to language of reconciliation and evade the huge inequalities surrounding conversations and practices dealing with xenophobia and injustice. Rooted in the New Testament understanding of Gentile outsiders grafted into the covenant community, this study invites readers to an on-the ground faith that hearkens to a soliciting and revealing God – the God who comes to us again and again through so-called outsiders, strangers, immigrants, and those without status.

  • Moses (Youth Study Book)Moses (Youth Study Book) : in the footsteps of the reluctant prophet

    Hamilton, Adam.

6 Sessions/ It doesn't get much more dramatic: rescued baby, life in the courts of Pharaoh, parting the Red Sea, leading his people out of Egypt...Moses' life was one challenge after the next, but although he resisted God's calling, by the end of his life he successfully fulfilled the role he was given.
